Wildlife in the surrounding area of Appin, near Oban

Argyll is famous for being home to some of Scotland's rare and wonderful wildlife.  Otters, Red Deer, Pine Martens, beautiful stags, seals, highland cattle and many, many other birds.  All are regular visitors to the loch shore and if you are up early enough you will see many a deer in the hotel's garden.

To see whales and even dolphins we can arrange boat trips from Oban and for seals we can arrange a local boat trip from just the end of the pier in Port Appin

The natural, unspoiled Appin peninsula boasts many wonderful wildlife sightings from guests who often come back at the end of day reporting sightings of are rare and beautiful birds.  A boat trip to famous Staffa, if times right, is almost guaranteed sightings of puffins and you can watch their playful antics!

Walking, Wildlife and Whale watching tours and more are readily available by arrangement and we can point out the best places to see our wonderful Port Appin Otters.
