The Airds Hotel & Restaurant Video Introduction
Welcome to the Airds Hotel & Restaurant
Shaun McKivragan (Owner) - "The Airds Hotel is a converted ferry inn, established on the West Coast of Scotland in a little place called Port Appin. We used to be regular guests of the Airds hotel and we heard that it was for sale, and one day we were having coffee in our lounge, and I turned to my wife and I said, Why don't we buy the Airds? and, to cut a long story short, two and a half months later we bought it. Very enjoyable experience, every day is different, every day we'll just improve something a little bit more so that it makes it perfect for the guest".
Janette Macdonald (Front of House) - "You can have everything, in one day you can have every season there is, hence why we have the wellies at the front door. All of a sudden the sun might just burst out and its just so beautiful. We can organise a guide to take you walking up the Munros, or if you just want a gentle walk, take the ferry over to the island of Lismore and walk the length of the island where you can see the mainland from the outside in. You can take one of the bikes and you can actually take the bikes over with you to Lismore and cycle over there. The only traffic you'll find are the sheep and the cows. You can go sailing. You can do the rib, which is a fast speedboat taking you right up and down Loch Linnhe. There's horse riding as well, which isn't far from here. There's a lot you can do because we're still in the Central belt of Scotland, so can travel quite far from here, but at the same time come back to this beautiful spot overlooking the Morven mountain range and Loch Linnhe for your supper."
Graham Steven (Manager) - "The Airds Hotel can provide something for all the senses, from the fabulous views we've got from the restaurant to the great food that chef produces. The restaurant here is all about local, seasonal, fresh, the best produce, the best that we can do. What better than to sit in the restaurant, look out onto the Morven Hills and know that the venison that you're eating has come from just across the way there. Havley is our gardener, he grows a lot of the vegetables, the salad leaves, the herbs, that chef will use in the kitchens. We will go there first as much as we can before going and buying at the market."
Shaun McKivragan (Owner) - "Well hopefully the guests will appreciate the West Coast scenery and will take away the very cosy atmosphere that we have here, and they'll go away with a warmth and a real good feel. That's what we're all about, that's what we want our guests to go away with."
