Coronavirus Help and Advice

As we continue to face the global challenge of responding to COVID-19, we remain focused on caring for the health, security and wellbeing of our guests and employees, and continue to operate the hotel with both our head and our heart during these difficult times.

Whilst relative to other parts of the country the risk is currently low in Argyll and Bute and at Airds, we recognise the concern that guests may have when considering whether to visit us.  We continue to monitor constantly and follow the relevant Public Health advice and your health and well being is our first priority.

At present, we are still warmly welcoming our guests; however as travel restrictions continue to build, we are committed to being as flexible as possible, whilst still trying to maintain the long term security of the hotel and hence jobs in the local community and beyond.

As always we strongly advise you to take out travel insurance even when travelling within the UK.

We have put together some frequently asked questions that guests are ringing us about and therefore thought it would be a good idea to publish these.

Frequently asked questons

How can I protect myself from the Coronavirus?

We would recommend that you follow all applicable travel and personal hygiene advice, including from Public Health England/Scotland and the World Health Organisation:

  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water or a disinfectant, especially after coughing and sneezing, before handling and consuming food
  • Use disposable tissues when coughing or sneezing and dispose of used tissues carefully and promptly
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who appear unwell and avoid sharing personal items
  • Public Health Advice recommends against using masks outside clinical settings. Should you decide to use a mask, you should ensure you continue to use all the recommended precautions in order to minimise the risk of transmission

Should I cancel my booking?

At present, Airds is open as usual. Our normal terms and conditions apply for any amendments or cancellations but where guests have to cancel and are charged in full we are allowing, given the particular circumstances, for guests to carry forward this sum to a future booking taken before the 31st October 2020. However, should the Government’s advice change to prevent travel please do contact us to discuss your options, including moving your booking to a later date.

My doctor has advised me not to travel or I have been asked to self-isolate?

You will be able to amend your holiday arriving and staying up to and including 31st October 2020, or cancel as per our cancellation policy.  We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance even if travelling within the UK.

Extra precautions taken at the hotel

We’re closely following government guidelines, but we thought it might be helpful to update you on the steps we’ve taken to ensure Airds remains safe and open.

Please be reassured that my team have elevated their already high standards of hygiene, incorporating additional cleaning and disinfecting procedures and frequency.

  • We will continue to uphold stringent standards of hygiene and cleanliness around the hotel including regular disinfecting of key areas such as door handles, taps and toilets. Hand sanitiser and soap is readily and widely available for both guests and staff.

  • We have implemented a social distancing policy in our restaurant.

  • We are encouraging payment by card rather than cash.
  • We continue to reinforce regular, thorough hand washing for all our guests and our staff. My team wash their hands as frequently as possible.
  • We are carefully following Government advice on all aspects of this virus

What will happen if there is an outbreak at the hotel?

If there is an outbreak at Airds then we will automatically follow Public Health advice. Please comply with any additional screening measures that are put in place. If you develop symptoms whilst at the hotel, however mild, please follow the government advice.

What will happen if Airds has to close?

If we are forced to close you will be able to amend your booking to a later date, this will be assessed on an individual case basis to ensure total fairness to all parties.

I hope this is helpful and if you have any concerns or questions please so contact us at once.

With best wishes

Robert McKay
